Religious Education Program in English
Our Religious Education program fosters within an educational environment the teachings and values of Jesus Christ and the Roman Catholic Church. The program offers 2 year sacramental preparation classes for Holy Communion, Reconciliation, and Confirmation as well as ongoing formation for children in Pre-K to 8th grades.
Sacred Heart also offers an RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children and Youth) program for children and youth from 8 to 17 years of age who have not been baptized and wish to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Communion and Confirmation. For those who have been baptized, they join the program to prepare to receive the sacraments of Communion and Confirmation.
Classes meet on Sundays from 10:15 am to 11:30 am in the Sacred Heart Academy. The Academy is located a half block from the Church at 1621 Park Rd. The classes are scheduled so that families may attend the English Mass at 9:00 am.
Our Religious Education program usually begins on the second or third Sunday of September and usually ends by the second week of June.
Our program follows the Archdiocese's K-8 "Forming Disciples" curriculum along with Loyola Press' Finding God textbook series.
