The Sacred Heart Green Team wants to help you save up to $500 a year on your PEPCO bill - while at the same time responding to Pope Francis' call to switch to renewable energy for the sake of our common home.
If you live in the District of Columbia and pay an electric bill, you may qualify for a FREE program called Solar for All. No installation of wires or equipment is necessary and even renters and those living in apartments can participate. There will be a registration table in the Gavan Center on September 10 and 17, 2023 from 8am to 2pm and 4pm to 6pm where you can sign up or learn more. Please bring 1) your PEPCO bill, 2) a form of identification, and 3) proof of income. You can also apply online.
"Let us make an effort to change and to adopt more simple and respectful lifestyles! Now is the time to abandon our dependence on fossil fuels and move, quickly and decisively, towards forms of clean energy and a sustainable and circular economy." - Pope Francis, September 2019
Because Solar for All partners build and maintain the offsite solar facilities, there is no installation on your rooftop, no home inspection requirement, and no ongoing maintenance. This set-up is called community solar or shared solar, and allows District utility customers to benefit from solar energy and support clean energy generation without installing rooftop solar panels on their property. Community solar offers an easy way to support locally-produced, clean solar energy generation! When you go solar, you are helping to send more renewable energy to the 4 power grid and reducing our dependence on fossil fuels.
Even if you don't qualify for Solar for All you can still participate in community solar. Check out Energy Sage and DC Power Connect to learn more and explore your options.
It is absurd to permit the continued exploration and expansion of fossil fuel infrastructures. Let us raise our voices to halt this injustice towards the poor and towards our children, who will bear the worst effects of climate change." - Pope Francis, September 2023
